Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) , a division of Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin (KBB) GmbH , is a cosmopolitan venue for contemporary arts and a forum for current developments and discussions. It presents artistic productions from around the world in the former Congress Hall at the Chancellery. Visual and performing arts, music, literature, film, academic discussions, and digital media are combined here in a unique interdisciplinary program.

This is a temporary trainee position, to run until December 31, 2019.
The Department of Literature and Humanities-™ work and program focus is on multidisciplinary research and topic-driven projects, as well as on single and serial events in discursive and explorative formats. Key topics include transnational socio-cultural formations, as well as production and transfer of knowledge in global frameworks and interrelationships. These are explored in discourse programs, temporary academies, workshops, and other formats in cooperation with actors from science and research and cultural and literary production. They are accompanied by digital and print publications.

A trainee position in the Department of Literature and Humanities offers a practical, systematic introduction to the diverse tasks and specific program activities of the department and the structures of an interdisciplinary cultural institution. The position particularly focuses on the international project "Anthropocene Curriculum-. This long term project is concerned with the transdisciplinary production and transfer of knowledge in the age of the Anthropocene. In this framework, among others, an outreach and research project is planned in the US. With a broad partnering network it expands on field research, the arts and the participation of the broader public. At HKW, the realization of the "Anthropocene Lectures- is part of the project as well. Our objective is to give you detailed insights, specialist and practical skills in the field of cultural management at the interface of art and science.
The traineeship includes the practical transfer of skills in the following fields of activity:
-In-depth topic and program-related research activities and conceptual program development for the "Anthropocene-Curriculum- project, its partnering network, and the online platform www.anthropocene-curriculum.org
-Planning, organization, and realization of the project-based production processes and event programs
-Editing and maintenance of the English-language online platform www.anthropocene-curriculum.org
-Communicating and dealing with players involved in development and production processes and institutional partners, as well as within project-relevant cooperation networks
An in-house training program also offers an insight into the structures and operations of an interdisciplinary cultural institution and aspects of cultural management.
We-™re looking for you!
-We-™re looking for someone with a keen interest in questions of contemporary, interdisciplinary research processes and interrelations of techno-, geo-, and biological spheres, as well as in the processes involved in culture and knowledge production.
-A degree (Bachelor/Master or comparable qualification) is a must, preferably in Cultural Studies, Media Studies, the Humanities, or other fields related to the department-™s and HKW-™s work.
-You-™ll have experience in content-related research and text production, and possibly also first working experience in the field of editing.
-You-™ll be confident using Microsoft Office, internet and social media applications.
-You-™ll stand out for your ability to work independently and meticulously, as well as for your strong communication and text production skills and will enjoy working in international teams and contexts. You-™ll also preferably be aware of the demands of a cultural institution.
-You-™ll have excellent English skills, as well as very good German skills, both written and spoken; additional foreign languages are an advantage.
We offer a traineeship salary on basis of TvöD (E 1, Stufe 2) for a working week of 39 hours.
